About Dr. Copeland

Picture
Dr. Copeland has been a professional scientific editor and writer since 2008. She holds a Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from Tulane University, with postdoctoral research experience in molecular entomology, molecular parasitology, noncoding RNA, and computational genomics. She has published over a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles (which have been cited more than 290 times) and has edited manuscripts in a broad range of biomedical, agricultural, and other scientific fields. Her science writing includes educational writing (undergraduate-level biology and chemistry and graduate-level bioinformatics/computational biology) and dozens of popular science and health publications.

Dr. Copeland also understands the "view from the other side" when it comes to submitting research manuscripts, since she has done peer review and ad hoc peer review for several journals, including
PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, Entomologia Generalis, Molecular Biology and Evolution, and Bulletin of Entomological Research, and has worked as a managing editor for a healthcare magazine targeted to medical professionals. She enjoys writing and helping authors to improve their manuscripts, and has extensive experience working with authors who are non-native English speakers.
